Back Pain : Causes of pain

Formerly it was believed that pain appeared because there was some alteration of the structure of the spine, including scoliosis or herniated disk. That is a mistake.

Pain is a neurological mechanism involving activation of the nerves that transmit pain and the onset of muscle contraction and inflammation. Sometimes, it can also lead to nerve root compression.

This mechanism can be triggered by an alteration of the structure of the spine, including disc herniation or significant degeneration of the facet joint, but in most cases can not be reached to determine the initial cause that triggers it, and Contracture attributed to pain or muscle strain.
